How Does IPL work?

SmoothSkin Gold is designed to help break the cycle of hair growth.

The light energy is transferred through the skin’s surface and is absorbed by the melanin present in the hair shaft.
The absorbed light energy is converted to heat energy (below the surface of the skin), which disables the hair follicle preventing further growth.
Treated hairs naturally fall out over the course of a few days to 1-2 weeks.

How long do treatments take?

Everybody’s hair is completely different. Different colour, thickness and density means some people will see results faster than others and will experience hair removal at different stages. Depending on which areas you are treating the time can vary, but ultimately the SmoothSkin Gold is the fastest home-use device giving you a unique beauty experience.

Is it suitable for me?

Due to its unique Detect and Set feature SmoothSkin Gold is suitable for all but the darkest skin tones. Our device automatically selects the right setting for you giving an accurate personalised treatment. Essentially, all the hard work is done for you so that treatments are simple and straightforward.

*we advise reading the warnings and precautions in the manual for more information on safety and suitability. SmoothSkin Gold is not recommended for use on red, grey or very light (blonde) hair.

Darker Skin Tones

Darker skin tones contain more melanin which can absorb more of the light energy meaning treating at the correct energy level is important. Our Detect and Set feature ensures maximum safety by measuring skin tones in 10 levels.

For the lightest skin tones, all the lights on the power bars at either side of the treatment window will be illuminated.
For the darkest skin tone, one light will be illuminated which means the skin tone is still suitable to treat.
For skin tones which are too dark to treat, the device will illuminate red and cannot be activated.

Gentle Mode

If you are using IPL for the first time, it can be an unusual experience. People can become familiar quite quickly with the IPL flashes, but to make treatments as comfortable as possible we have created a Gentle Mode.
